Why You Little Bratz!!!

Your child could be holding onto a potential gold mine! If your kid has the Bratz dolls, you may want to put them to the side. A judge put the hammer down on them yesterday due to a dispute over the dolls and who owns the rights to their creation. In August, a jury in Riverside, California gave Mattel rights to all but four of the original drawings upon which the first Bratz dolls were based and up to $100 million in damages and lost profits. And there's more...

Jessica's Didgeridoo

Jessica brought in a Didgeridoo this morning...
don't ask us where she got it, or how she learned to make those noises...
but Boy is it cool!
We've posted pics below, as well as sample sounds...

The Kangaroo Hop. Keep the drone going and quickly say the letter D. Tap the roof of your mouth with the tip of your tongue while you do it. Now, to create the sound of hopping just say "doing" while playing.

The Dog Bark and Growl. Keep the drone going and scream into the didgeridoo. A loud and startling sound should come out. Refine it by trying to imitate a deep growl and dog bark.

The Kookaburra is of the kingfisher family and considered the protector by Aboriginal people and is distinguished by its gurgling, laughter like call. Bird call is talking rather than singing in Aboriginal cultures, only humans can sing.

FOR REAL ! ! !

OK, so I go out to my car yesterday and find some leaves on my windshield. BUT right in the middle of the windshield, I find this leaf with what looks to be a pattern eaten out of it...and it looks like the Devil. Jessica thinks it looks like a happy cat or smiley face - not. I'm totally freaked out about it and don't know how to preserve it, so if you have suggestions, please list below. Should I list on eBay??? Should I keep it???

Great Time With The Kids...

The Free Lance Star recently did an article about this non-profit equine rescue, so I thought I would score some major Daddy points with my Daughter and volunteer some time with the horses.
My Daughter is a major horse lover, and a big helper. After reading the article and finding out that Eagle Hill Equine Rescue needed volunteers I thought "2 for 1 deal". You can volunteer your time any time...1 day a year or many days a week. This place does some amazing things.
They specialize in young horses, some just 4 or 5 day old orphaned foals, which we hand raise to horses ready for saddle training up to the age of 4.
Mrs. Ann is in charge of this great "2nd chance" place and gave us an education along with an amazing experience. We were hooked after the first hour. My Daughter was grinning from ear to ear and my Wife and Son were having a great time to. Mrs. Ann said all the volunteers are meeting in September to have a special event to thank all volunteers - new and experienced. They plan on great chow, and entertainment. The EHER = Great family time, and it's tax deductable!

Geoff's First Pedicure...and He Was Afraid

Geoff went for his first pedicure yesterday. He was all freaked out about someone touching his feet - oh brother. His feet were the worst that we've ever seen. On an ugly scale of 1 to 10, they were an 11.
We had to beat him into submission to get him into the chair. At first he thought he was going to get the "Desperate Housewives Pedi" which consisted of shirtless guys dressed like Chip 'N Dale dancers all around dancing while working on your feet, but we let him off easy.
Look at the before and after pics...thank God he had it done. Now we can be seen with him while he's wearing his sandals.

Lawn chair balloonist achieves his dream

BEND, Ore. - Using his trusty BB gun to help him return to Earth, a 48-year-old gas station owner flew a lawn chair rigged with helium-filled balloons more than 200 miles across the Oregon desert Saturday, landing in a field in Idaho.

Kent Couch created a sensation in the tiny farming community of Cambridge, Idaho, where he touched down safely in a pasture and was soon greeted by dozens of people who gave him drinks of water, local plumber Mark Hetz said.

DANGER! Your Tires Could Be An Accident Waiting to Happen

After years of delay, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a consumer advisory warning motorists that outdated tires, even if they appear to be brand new, can lead to "catastrophic failure." Pay attention: Many new state laws take effect today

RICHMOND (Free Lance-Star)

--Today marks the day that most of the 884 bills passed by the General Assembly become law.

Some bills, like the one repealing last year's highly unpopular abusive driving fees, had an emergency clause that made them law when Gov. Tim Kaine signed them. And others, like Del. Bobby Orrock's bill to outlaw "puppy mills" by requiring large-scale dog breeders to be locally licensed, don't take effect until next year.

But for the most part, the changes made by legislators go into effect today. Here is a partial list; the full list can be found at legis.state.va.us (scroll down to "session tracking," then make sure you're in the 2008 regular session, not the two special sessions, then click on "statistics" and then "approved" to get the entire list).

--Chelyen Davis
